Mask Parade/ Desfile de Mascara

from $100.00

I made my first diablo cojuelo mask at Alianza Dominicana (Dominican Alliance).

The idea of a mask with a permanent smile yet devilish feature was always interesting to me. Unlike the other carnival masks, it wasn't frightening, it actually felt a bit plain- basic even.

I loved that- to me it was the simplified symbol of our culture.
I knew one day I would figure out how to add it to my work.
